Sajid Javid’s housing pledge could make a real difference for Conwy families
Politics can be pretty dry at the best of times. But as a builder of communities, when the Communities Secretary speaks, we listen.
So when Sajid Javid MP said: “We have a responsibility to build more houses, a responsibility not just to our constituents but to the next generation,” it struck a chord with us.
We have long understood the pressing need to address the housing shortage and tackle the growing waiting list for housing in Conwy.
And while successive Governments have made some moves to try to tackle the issue, Mr Javid has proposed the strongest support yet for families who are struggling to find affordable housing.
In his speech to the Conservative Party Conference Mr Javid said: “Everyone agrees we need more homes, but too many object to them being next to us.
“We have a responsibility to build more houses, a responsibility not just to our constituents but to the next generation.”
At Beech we embrace that ethos. We understand that any plan to build new homes anywhere causes inevitable concerns and objections. We completely understand that and fully respect the honest views that are expressed.
All we hope is that local people have full access to the facts regarding every application and that their representatives, political or otherwise, are fair and balanced in their views and objections.
We have over 660 families and individuals registered on our database looking for new properties in Conwy County.
The need to provide housing for these people is becoming more pressing, and their numbers are growing by the week. The Government has made a real commitment to tackling this need, and now it is up to us to do the right thing and make sure these families can be housed within our community.
